God Friendly Ministry Education Project
- God Friendly Ministry GOFRIL was among the 4 organizations granted 10 million Kwacha in the year 2023 by Relon-Malawi and they used the funds by building community through sports and play by increasing access to education for refugee children in the Dzaleka refugee camp.
- They have built a centre for children’s sports and play and also covered school costs and necessary school equipment for 25 orphan children including refugees and children from the host community.
- The weekly sports and play activities for children’s mental health and well-being kept on going every week, an approximate number of 2,000 refugees is reached during their football and netball competitions held in Dzaleka in October 2023.
- The children’s sports and play included junior team v/s Mpalankwali youth team, and Dzaleka girl’s netball team v/s Mpalankwali girls. Different games and refreshments; sharing life experiences, talking about cultural differences; rope jumping, tennis ball playing, and performances including traditional dances were also covered.
- Workshops with stakeholders including Parents, caregivers, and community and local leaders on how to respond to and support distressed children’s development, learning, and well-being needs as well as being equipped to welcome and support displaced children and their families.
Children increase their talents; they develop friendships and culture as well as traditional practices being exercised and practiced between participants.
